AUBURN — Hundreds of attendees were able to enjoy an afternoon of shopping, samples and spa-style treatments from 30 area vendors at the first ever Ladypalooza! The free event took place over Mother’s Day weekend, and donated $400 in proceeds to the local domestic violence prevention program, Safe Voices.

“We are so grateful that the organizers see the vast social problem of domestic violence and have designated this fundraiser for Safe Voices and for domestic violence prevention,” said Safe Voices Executive Director, Jane Morrison.

“We wanted to bring something beneficial, and exciting for women and families here to Auburn that offers free, unique fun. At the same time, we wanted to help stimulate the local economy by supporting businesses and our community,” said Ladypalooza! organizer, Kavita Sharma-Nason. “What better way to do so then to make this premiere event a fundraiser for domestic violence prevention? I’m so proud of how it turned out.”

While admission to the event was free, attendees had the option to buy raffle tickets that they could drop in the baskets at each vendor’s table and be entered to win the prize that vendor donated to the cause.

“It’s a great event on a great day for a great cause,” said Wes Covey of Sacred Arts. “Who doesn’t want to help abused women and families and domestic violence prevention? And it gives us an opportunity to showcase our products and services to a new audience.”

Vendors offered goods ranging from massages to gourmet cupcakes, from jewelry to house wares; from personal care items to hands-on energy work. Organizers hope to make this an annual event.
