MECHANIC FALLS — Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred late Sunday afternoon on Route 121.

According to officer Alan Carr of the Mechanic Falls Police Department, driver James Young, 26, of Lewiston, was traveling northbound on Route 121 just north of Mechanic Falls when he came around a corner too wide and overcorrected, going off the right-hand side of the road.

Young’s Jeep Wrangler hit a stump that sent him back into Route 121, across the southbound lane, ejecting him from the vehicle before the Jeep came to rest by some trees.

The crash was called in at 4:55 p.m. Route 121 was down to one lane of traffic while police investigated.

Young was taken to Central Maine Medical Center by United Ambulance for unknown injuries. A nursing supervisor at the hospital said she could not confirm if Young was a patient there.

Mechanic Falls police were assisted by the Mechanic Falls Fire Department, Oxford Rescue and the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.
