FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners voted Tuesday to set the tax rate for 2012-13 at $1.01 per $1,000 of property valuation, the same rate as last year.

Though the tax rate is the same, some towns in the county will see an increase in tax assessments due to an increase in state valuation. Some will see a decrease in the tax bill because the state valuations went down.

Jay’s valuation jumped about $37 million to $992.64 million, while Carrabassett Valley’s valuation decreased about $26 million to $571.9 million.

Eleven towns will see valuations increase as well as tax rates. Nine will see decreases in both categories.

Franklin County as a whole is valued at $4.7 billion, including the $334.95 million valuation of the unorganized territory. The tax assessment to the towns and unorganized territory as a whole is $4.71 million with an overlay of $33,708, according to information presented by county Clerk Julie Magoon.

The first half of taxes is due Sept. 1 and the second half is due Feb. 1, 2013.
