STRONG — At its annual meeting on May 19, the Maine Education Association announced the winners of this year’s Clyde Russell scholarships for 2012.

Delani Littlefield of Mt. Abram High School in Strong was among the recipients of $2,000 scholarships in the category of “graduating high school seniors who will attend a Maine community college.” Littlefield will attend Southern Maine Community College and obtain degrees in both fire science and paramedicine. She has completed several firefighting and EMT classes at Foster Tech. Center in Farmington, and will enter college with 16 college credits. She is a junior firefighter, active in the National Honor Society, Leo Club, soccer, Nordic skiing and track.

Applications for the 2013 awards will be available beginning in November and may be downloaded at that time at www.clyderussellscholarshipfund.org.
