28th annual CVA Sugarloaf Golf Classic
CARRABASSETT VALLEY — The CVA Sugarloaf Golf Classic returns to the Sugarloaf Golf Club August 25 and 26. Now in its 28th year, the annual event is a highlight of the summer for much of the Sugarloaf and CVA community. The CVA Sugarloaf Golf Classic raises more than $50,000 annually for the Martha B. Webber Scholarship Fund at CVA.
In addition to golf, the weekend’s activities include a banquet featuring live and silent auctions, where guests can bid on numerous items from vacation packages to gift certificates to autographed memorabilia.
The Classic was founded by Peter Webber, who was instrumental in the development of the Sugarloaf Golf Club and the Sugarloaf resort. The inaugural event was held on the day the Sugarloaf Golf Club opened in 1984.
Since that first event, the Classic has raised more than $1.1 million for the Martha B. Webber Scholarship fund. Martha was a founder of CVA and had a vision that all young people who wished to experience CVA could do so regardless of their economic status. Each year the entirety of the fund is distributed to deserving CVA student-athletes from across the state of Maine.
The CVA Sugarloaf Golf Classic is open to the public and golfers of all abilities, everyone is invited to participate. Golfers and non-golfers alike are invited to attend the banquet and auctions throughout the weekend. For more information or to register call Sam Pelletier at 237-4453.
