JAY – RSU 73 directors approved several staff appointments Thursday that include a new elementary music teacher.
The board made its decisions after a brief executive session.
Directors approved Daniel Labonte as kindergarten through fifth grade general music teacher at the Jay Elementary School and also chorus at the Spruce Mountain Middle School in Jay.
Labonte replaces Frances Ricker who retired at the end of the school year.
The board also approved David Grant for the position of special services education technician I at the Jay Elementary School for 2012-13.
Cynthia Soucy was also approved for the position of special services education technician I at the Livermore Elementary School in Livermore for 2012-13.
All of the positions are contingent on proper certification and Maine Department of Education status.
In other staff appointments, the board approved a second year probationary contract for Patrick St. Clair, elementary teacher for the federal Title I program.
Directors also appointed Jay Elementary School Principal Christopher Hollingsworth as affirmative action officer/systemwide, and Albert Marston to the position of summer math instructor for adult education for a total of 60 hours.
