LEWISTON — College for ME-Androscoggin has announced the first two recipients of its First Class Scholarships. These awards provide scholarships to adult students, age 25 or older, who are living or working in Androscoggin County to cover the costs of their first college class ever or after a significant gap in attending college. This scholarship provides for the costs of one college course’s tuition and fees as well as academic support throughout the semester
The recipients of this first round are Kimberly Mitchell of Durham and Carol Pirruccello of Turner.
Mitchell plans to pursue her bachelor’s degree in business administration at Kaplan University. She is returning to college 22 years after earning her associate degree, recognizing that she needs a higher degree in order to advance beyond her current position. Pirruccello has helped raise four children, all of whom have attended college. She and they agree: Now it is her turn.
Pirruccello plans to pursue her bachelor’s degree at the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College.
