FARMINGTON — Two Maine authors are expected to make appearances at Devaney Doak & Garrett Booksellers this month.

Artist, photographer, writer and painter William Wegman will discuss his new book, Hello Nature, at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Broadway booksellers.

Down East editor, Paul Doiron, makes an appearance at 7 p.m.  Tuesday, Aug. 14, to share his newest book, Bad Little Falls, his third novel featuring Maine Game Warden Mike Bowditch. Other books in the series include, Poacher’s Son and Trespasser.

Wegman, who lives in New York and in the Rangeley area of Maine, is probably best known for his photography and videos using his cast of dogs, Weimaraners, which grew into a series of children’s books inspired by the dog’s acting abilities and dress.

He is also an accomplished painter, draftsman, writer and an avid outdoorsman. Throughout his work, he looks to nature. This book takes a fresh look at his work reflecting on nature’s place in the cultural imagination.

Maine native and now editor-in-chief of Down East, Doiron’s “hard edged Maine game warden thrillers have been growing in popularity with each new book in the series.”

In Bad Little Falls, game warden Bowditch has been sent into exile, transferred by his superiors to a remote outpost on the Canadian border.

Caught in a rescue mission that soon becomes a baffling murder investigation, Bowditch faces trials posed by an anonymous tormentor and turns to his bush pilot friend, Charley Stevens. The snowbound area causes him to rely on his own wits and strength when help seems far away.
