Opening receptions for an exhibition of artwork by Alan Stratton will be held Friday and Saturday, Aug. 3-4, at SugarWood Gallery in Farmington. Stratton, an employee of the University of Maine at Farmington, is an art student of Stan Keirstead. This will be his debut gallery art show. A Farmington resident, Stratton finds inspiration in his daughter and granddaughter, who live nearby. Besides painting, he enjoys hiking, yard work, reading and family activities. Receptions will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the gallery at 248 Broadway. Stratton’s work will be on view through August. Gallery hours:10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
