NORWAY — Frost Farm Gallery will hold a First Friday reception on Aug. 3 for its “Love Unfolds Endlessly” exhibit, featuring original works by local artist Joanna Reese.
The free reception will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at the gallery in the historic David W. Frost farm, 272 Pikes Hill. Master guitarist Denny Breau, who was inducted into the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame in 2004, will provide music.
Reese says she sees art and creativity as truth and beauty in an otherwise illusory and ordinary world. Inspiration has come from her parents, the natural world, her artist-uncle William Beckstead, Austrian painter Sissi Ventrone, local painter and educator Duncan Slade, dancer Debi Irons and jeweler Dennis Creaser.
For Reese, the creative process involves finding an inner center and working outward, while balancing technique with inspiration. Besides her artwork, she enjoys hiking, dancing and buying, selling and trading books from The Maine Bookhouse in Oxford.
The “Love Unfolds Endlessly” exhibit and sale will continue through Saturday, Aug. 25. The July First Friday art opening at Frost Farm Gallery is in conjunction with the Lajos Matolcsy Arts Center, the Commons Art Collective and the McLaughlin Garden. For more information, call 743-8041.
