Dorothy and Paul

Dickman

FARMINGTON — Paul and Dorothy Brader Dickman were honored by their family at a luncheon in Farmington on July 1, in celebration of their 60th wedding anniversary.

Attending the party were their surviving children and their spouses, Susan and Chuck Burt of Madison, Ala., David and Linda Dickman of East Northport, N.Y., and Douglas and Stephanie Dickman of Rochester, N.Y. Their oldest son, Thomas, passed away in 1978. His daughters, Linh Sullins of New York and Cindy Willingham of Texas attended with the five great-grandchildren. The other grandchildren attending were Laura Burt, Mary Etta Schoradt with her husband, Geof, Theresa Dickman, Melissa Burt, Joanna Dickman, Connor Dickman and Sarah Dickman. A niece, Elizabeth M. Staulcup of Manchester, N.H., was the only person attending the party who was also a guest at the wedding 60 years before.

The Dickmans were married on July 5, 1952, in Delhi, N.Y. Before retiring to Farmington in 1993, Mr. and Mrs. Dickman lived their entire married life in Northport, N.Y., where they raised their four children.

Mr. Dickmanl was an engineer at Grumman Aerospace for 48 years and met his wife, Dory, when she was also working there. She was an active volunteer, serving PTAs, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and especially the Presbyterian Church. They traveled extensively by car, alternating years going to Florida and driving out west. In this way, they took the three older children to all 50 states before Tom Dickman completed high school, flying only from the West coast to Hawaii. Later on, they spent more time sailing, including cruises to Maine.

They both continue as very active members of the Fairbanks Union Church and they still take road trips.
