A few questions in response to the article “Lewiston superintendent says ‘no’ to double-dipping” (July 29): Why is this double dipping? A retiree is allowed to receive a pension and still work. Is it different if a person returns to work in education or if the individual works in the private sector? One is still earning money.

Retirees are allowed only one pension. Are all retirees considered as double-dipping?

I understand that Sue Martin is still chief academic officer in Lewiston. Is she being let go?

Wasn’t the present assistant superintendent rehired after previously serving in a different position?

Is it only lower echelon staff that Superintendent Bill Webster wishes to exempt from “double-dipping”? Can this be policy for the district if it is not from the School Board?

Why would we not want experienced staff in positions dealing with children? Is it because it is less expensive to hire younger, less experienced ones in the schools? The position will be filled regardless of who is hired.

So, again I ask, why is this “double-dipping”?

It sounds to me as if Superintendent Webster may have a hidden agenda.
