1945 – 2012
BOSTON — Richard “Rick” M. Rush Jr., 66, a resident of Jay, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where he had been a patient for the last two months.
He was born Sept. 8, 1945, in Livermore Falls, the son of Richard M. Rush, Sr. and Doris (Treworthy) Rush. Rick attended school in Livermore Falls and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1964.
On Sept. 23, 1989, in Jay, he married his wife of 22 years, Cindy Bennett of Jay.
Rick had worked at Record Foundry in Livermore Falls and later as a store room clerk at International Paper Company in Jay, retiring due to ill health.
He was a member of the Frank L. Mitchell, V.F.W. Post 3335 Men’s Auxiliary in Jay.
Rick enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to spend time in Germany and also many of the states when his father was in the Army.
He was also a ham radio operator going by KB10JE. During his recent years, he loved sitting on the swing with his dog Brandy, just watching the traffic and sometime napping with Brandy.
He and Cindy were able to go on two cruises — which he loved. Rick’s favorite saying was “Life is short — Eat dessert first.”
No matter what life threw at him he always did his best. His loving wife will miss his great humor and laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Bennett of Jay; father, Richard Sr.; his daughter, Jennifer of Cornville; his son, Richard A. Rush of Skowhegan; two granddaughters, his sister, Sue Metlzer of Massachusetts; his nieces and his loyal dog, Brandy. He was predeceased by his mother.
