RANGELEY — As part of its Summer Artist’s Workshop Series, Saddleback Mountain will host two two-day precious metal workshops Aug. 20 to 23 using the medium of silver precious metal clays.

“Earrings — Easy to Elegant” will be held Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 20 and 21, and “Bracelets — Bangles, Linked and Charmed” will take place Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 22 and 23. Participants may sign up for either one or both.

The workshops are open to artists already accomplished with precious metal clay as well as people with no experience. Participants will be encouraged to find their own voice and style.

Silver precious metal clay {PMC) is a clay-like material that is 99 percent silver, which can be molded like clay but once it is fired in a kiln, it solidifies into a piece of silver jewelry or whatever else the artist may have created.

The instructor for both classes is Michela Verani, an award-winning metal clay artist and educator who has authored articles for numerous metal clay publications. She is the fourth person in the world to have achieved Metal Clay Master’s Registry III, is a juried member of the League of N.H. Craftsmen and is Art Clay and Rio Rewards Certified in metal clay.

The cost of each class is $275. Each workshop is limited to 10 participants. Students are required to bring their own silver clay. Additional information is available on the Saddleback website.

The classes will be held in Saddleback’s post-and-beam base lodge. For more information, call 1-877-864-5441 or visit www.saddlebackmaine.com.
