NORWAY — Anna Gordon, who has served as the children’s librarian at Norway Memorial Library for the past two years, leaves this week for a new job in New York.

The 25-year-old New Jersey native and graduate of the State University of New York, where she earned a master’s degree in library and information science, said she is resigning to be closer to her family.

“I’ll miss the skiing,” she said Tuesday at an open house to bid her farewell.

Gordon’s new job is youth services librarian at the Moffat Library in Washingtonville, N.Y. She will oversee services to children and teens.

Gordon, who comes from a family of librarians, including her mother who has been in private, public and law library positions, developed and ran the preschool programs for children in grades one through six while in Norway.

Library Director Beth Kane said she has presented an “energetic, creative and diverse program for the children and their families.”

While she won’t be able to take a quick drive up Route 26 to Sunday River in Newry for skiing, Gordon said she hopes to still find time with her new job to get some skiing in.
