DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thanks for so much great info. Too bad there isn’t more space for your column; I can think of some, but the believers in astrology would never stand for it!

Anyway, my question is this: How long has the TV ad for York’s Wild Kingdom been on? My guess that it’s at least 20 years, if not longer. Every summer when it starts up again, I wonder how old the children in it are now. They must have children of their own, if not grandchildren! — Richard via email

ANSWER: Sun Spots thanks you for your kind words, but she can barely keep up with the readers in the space she has now, let alone taking on more column space.

As for your TV ad question, Sun Spots failed you. She emailed York’s at yorkzoo.com, but they could not give her an answer other than “many years.”

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I watched “Ice Road Truckers” for the last few seasons on the History Channel. They had a couple of girl drivers, Lisa and Maura. How come they aren’t on this season?

Also, on the Discovery Channel there was a show called the “Swamp Loggers.” They were in North Carolina. I haven’t seen them for a while. Are they coming back?

As you can tell, I don’t know anything about computers. Thanks. — O.J., Peru

ANSWER: Sun Spots cannot find a trucker named Maura. She thinks maybe you mean Maya. She and Lisa were on together in Season 5, according to history.com/shows/ice-road-truckers/. The show is now in its sixth season.

There are a variety of reasons why the drivers, who really are actual truck drivers, might voluntarily leave the show or be encouraged to do so. Some characters become very popular with viewers and stay more than one season, while others become frustrated with the rules and the routes and leave.

Lisa was on several seasons and has her own website and something of a following. It’s too bad you aren’t online, because you could read about the show to your heart’s content at more than one website.

As for “Swamp Loggers,” Sun Spots found a February posting that said the show will not return for Season 4. No reason for the cancellation was offered, other than it came after months of indecision and rumors that the show might not return.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Any validity to the rumor FX is planning to remove BBC’s “Bad Girls”? It’s a prison drama, not that gaudy gauche reality TV. — No Name, No Town

ANSWER: Sun Spots did not find any mention regarding FX and “Bad Girls,” but she is not surprised. Networks fill in their schedules with shows that are in syndication (reruns) but don’t feel any need to announce changes the way they do with new shows or those they produce themselves.

According to Wikipedia, HBO is remaking the British drama, using the same characters for an American audience. The original British drama, which ran from 1999 to 2006, has been shown on American TV.

According to the “Bad Girls” website, it’s currently shown on LOGO, which is channel number 188 on Time Warner Cable. Unfortunately, Sun Spots could not find the show in the TV listings for LOGO, so the “Bad Girls” website may be out of date.

The show is available on DVDs with a big if. You have to have a player that will work with Region 2 (European) DVDs. If so, you can order them from Amazon. Season 1 is available for viewing from Netflix in our Region 1 format.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for printing my letter (Aug. 4) about my husband’s losing his fireman’s cross when he went to St. Mary’s Emergency Room on July 25. However, I gave you the wrong phone number. It should be 576-0116. — Connie, Lewiston
