The Stanton Bird Club will host a free bird walk from 8 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Whitman Spring Road Trail, Auburn, to see early fall migrant birds. Leaders Stan and Joan DeOrsey ask participants to meet at 8 a.m. at JCPenney’s end of the Auburn Mall parking lot, 550 Center St. Each walk is approximately two miles long, on an even and dry surface. The DeOrseys suggest bringing binoculars and dressing in layers, to be flexible for the weather. They will hold the walk even if it is drizzling, but if steady rain at 7 a.m. is projected to continue to 10 a.m., the walk is canceled.
