FARMINGTON — Police say a local man was charged after he had an argument with his girlfriend about a sandwich and led police in a chase through the woods.

David M. Shanley, 24, of Farmington was arrested on charges of criminal mischief and obstructing the reporting of a crime.

Police were called to the Whittier Road home of his family members about 6:54 p.m. Monday after Shanley got upset and cut the telephone line when they said they were going to call police, Bonnie Pomeroy, secretary of the Farmington Police Department read from Sgt. Michael Adcock’s report. Shanley also trashed a bedroom and kicked the home siding putting a hole in it.

He then took off on foot into a wooded area. A Franklin County Sheriff Department’s canine unit was called. He was found by the dog and did not resist arrest, she said.

He remained at Franklin County Detention Center late Tuesday afternoon. His bail was set at $500 cash according to an officer at the center.
