FREEMAN TOWNSHIP — A Kingfield man faces charges after a woman reported seeing him looking in a bedroom window when she was getting ready to go to bed.

Deputy Christopher Chase arrested Jonah Mitchell, 31, on Monday on misdemeanor charges of stalking and violations of conditions of release, Lt. Niles Yeaton said Tuesday. The violation is in connection to a related case, he said. Mitchell was arrested by deputies on July 9 on a charge of domestic violence stalking.

Deputies responded to the report of someone looking in the bedroom at a residence on Foster Hill Road on Sunday night, Yeaton said.

Chase responded with his police dog, Abbie, and tried to locate the suspect. The dog was unsuccessful in finding the person but a vehicle registered to a family member of Mitchell’s was found by Deputy Sandy Burke parked in a driveway two houses down, he said.

The victim was interviewed and told deputies that she believed the person looking in the window was Jonah Mitchell, Yeaton said.

Mitchell turned himself in to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department where he was arrested on Monday.

He remained at the Franklin County jail on Tuesday and is expected to make an appearance in court this week.

Chase and Burke were assisted at the scene by Cpl. Stephen Charles.
