BIDDEFORD — “The Great American Trailer Park Musical,” a comedy about the denizens of the Armadillo Acres trailer park, will return to the Biddeford City Theater stage on Friday, Aug. 24.
The tale involving agoraphobia, adultery, 1980s nostalgia, spray cheese, road kill, hysterical pregnancy, kleptomania, strippers and disco was sold out in February.
“The Great American Trailer Park Musical” explores the lives of Norbert, a toll collector, and Jeannie, his high-school sweetheart, who would love to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary in a big way, but Jeannie hasn’t been able to step outside their mobile home since the terrible day her son was kidnapped and she got a really bad perm.
Pippi, a sassy stripper, blows into town on the run from her magic marker-sniffing, ex-boyfriend, Duke. When Norbert falls for Pippi, it’s up to Jeannie to follow her beloved Dr. Phil’s advice and overcome her fear — and go get her man.
Guiding audience members through the battle for love is a trashy Greek chorus of trailer park matrons — Betty, Pickles and Linoleum. In three-part harmony, they perform a playlist of American music full of the blues, gospel, country rock, R&B and disco.
The show, which runs through Sept. 2, is for adults due to mature themes and salty language. Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. For tickets, $20, call 282-0849.
