Boothbay 2, St. Dom’s 1
BOOTHBAY — Alex Clark converted a nice feed from Sarah Caron with 12:40 remaining in regulation, giving Boothbay a 2-1 win over St. Dom’s in a season-opening KVAC field hockey tilt Wednesday.
Caron opened the second half with a goal of her own to give Boothbay a 1-0 advantage. The Saints answered with a goal from Britany Eastman, assisted by junior Callie Greco.
Christine Nichols made eight saves for Boothbay, while Amanda Cortellino turned aside 10 shots for St. Dom’s.
Cape Elizabeth 8, G-NG 0
GRAY — Lauren Steidel led a trio of players to register multiple goals as Cape Elizabeth dominated its season opener with an 8-0 romp over Gray-New Gloucester in field hockey action Wednesday.
Aubray O’Mera and Hailey Pet Singer also scored two goals for the Capers (1-0). Single tallies from Jane Coffrin and Abby McHenney completed the scoring for Cape, while Julianna Ayers stopped all 22 shots fired in her direction.
Olivia Rottari was busy in net for the Patriots (0-1), turning aside 32 shots in the contest.
