Meineke Car Care advanced in local softball tourney action with a pair of wins.
Meineke collectively scored 40 runs Thursday evening over the course of two games while giving up only six.
Meineke eliminated Fire House Grill from the playoffs with an 18-1 victory in five innings at Tribou Field in the first matchup. Jeff Goss, Greg Rose and Bob Sawyer each went 3-for-3 at the plate. John Langelier and Nick Berube each had two doubles while going 2-for-3. Brad O’Connor hit a line drive to right field netting him a pair of RBIs. Fred Collins was the winning hurler.
Meineke then moved to Pettingill Park that same night where they also eliminated Buckfield Mall from playoff contention with a 22-5 victory, 11 of those runs coming in the third inning. Consistency at the plate was key for Meineke, with Forrest Martin going 4-for-5. John Langelier and Greg Rose both went 3-for-4, including a solo home run from Rose. Forrest Martin made a stellar diving catch in right field to end the game in the bottom of the seventh. Fred Collins picked up his second win of the night on the mound.
Meineke hopes to continue their playoff run when they face the red hot Brew Crew Wednesday evening.
