JAY — A woman from Hermon riding a three-wheel motorcycle received head and internal injuries in a crash at Bean’s Corner, the intersection of routes 133 and 156, Thursday morning.

Deanna Moore, 47, of Hermon was riding a Can-Am Spyder, which has two wheels in front and one in back, north on Route 133 also known as Franklin Road, Jay police Detective Richard Caton said.

Moore was thrown onto the road after her motorcycle struck a car crossing the intersection and driven by Nadine Lalande, 42, of Saint-Vincent, Quebec.

Moore was transported by NorthStar to Franklin Memorial Hospital and transferred on to Central Maine Medical Center. A nursing supervisor at the Lewiston hospital said Thursday night that no information on her condition was being released.

Lalande was driving east on Route 156 about 10:40 a.m. and came to the stop sign. She stopped and started through the intersection without seeing the oncoming motorcycle, Caton said.

The motorcycle struck the passenger side of  Lalande’s 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier. 

The car and motorcycle came to rest in the westbound lane of the Route 156 intersection where a truck was stopped.

They both struck the pickup truck driven by Penny Cafferman, 53, of Wilton before their vehicles stopped. She was not injured, he said.

Passengers with Lalande were Annie Lalande, 46, and Estelle Gratton, 20, both from Quebec, and a dog. Neither Lalande nor her passengers were injured, Caton said.

Officers from Franklin County Sheriff’s Department are reconstructing the accident, which is still under investigation, he said. No charges have been filed at this time.

Jay Police Chief Larry White and officer Russell Adams along with Jay Fire Department, Wilton Police Department and Wilton Fire Department assisted Caton at the scene.
