AUBURN — Janice Gertrude Pillsbury Rand, 81, passed away Aug. 28, at Clover Health Care Facility surrounded by her loving family, due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born in Rangeley, Jan. 2, 1931, the daughter of Vern G. Pillsbury and Annie Stewart Morton Pillsbury. Janice attended Rangeley schools and graduated in 1949. As a teenager, she worked as a theater usher where she met the love of her life Erlon W. Rand Jr. They were married on July 3, 1949.

Janice was a homemaker all her life, devoting herself to her family and her church. She enjoyed family get-togethers, gardening, sewing, knitting and making crafts with her husband. In their retirement years, they enjoyed many sightseeing trips around the country.

She is survived by her husband, Erlon of Turner; brother, Hazen “Ben” Morton of Rangeley; and many nieces and nephews; sons, Steven B. and wife, Vicki, of Livermore and Kenneth E. and wife, Marge, of Leeds; daughters, Dianne R. O’Connor and husband, Brad, of Minot and Katherine A. Decker and husband, Mark, of Turner; her 13 grandchildren, Jennifer L. Casey and husband, Daniel, Jason B. Rand and wife, Mandy, Brent W. Rand, Emily M. Krams and husband, James, Heidi R. Rand and husband, Carl, Taryn A. and Carrie J. Rand, Shawn W. O’Connor, Michael C. O’Connor and wife, Elizabeth, Kelli A. Young and husband, Kenny, Briana K. Filip, Brittany A. Richardson and fiancé, Roger Zuniga and Britni Decker; her 14 great-grandchildren, Amanda Rand, TeeJay Sinclair, Kaylee and Noah Casey, Oliver and Simon Rand, Annabelle and Hailie Rand, Lyla Reynolds, Amelia Krams, Andrew and Matthew O’Connor, Gabriel and Gavin Filip; and best friend, Shirley Dunn.

She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Darrold “Mike” and Donald C. “Bart” Morton; sisters-in-law, Ruth and Jo Morton; nephew, Kent Morton; mother-in-law, Grace Mae Rand; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cy and Alice Kennison, Fred and Elinor Rand, Daniel and Helen Grover.

The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Clover Health Care Facility for their 3½ years of special care they gave to their Mom, especially the staff on Galway Place.
