LISBON — St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 879 Lisbon Road, will offer The Alpha Course on Thursdays, from 5:45 to 8:30 p.m., beginning Sept. 13.

The 10-week practical introduction to the Christian faith offers answers to key questions. Alpha began in London in 1976 and has had 18 million participants in more than 170 countries and 100-plus denominations. It is for people from all backgrounds, religions and viewpoints. Alpha is for those wanting to investigate Christianity, for new Christians or for newcomers to the church and those who want to deepen their faith. Some of the topics include: Why did Jesus die? Why and how do I read the Bible? How does God guide us? and Does God heal today?

Each weekly session begins with an informal dinner, followed by a large group teaching via video by the developer of the course, Nicky Gumbel, and ends with a small-group discussion and interaction.

Child care will be provided. There is no charge for the course, but donations will be accepted toward the cost of dinner and child care.
