WESTBROOK — George Arthur Roth Sr., 76, of Rangeley, passed comfortably Monday, Aug. 27, at the Springbrook Center, after a short, but intense battle with cancer.

He was born Dec. 5, 1935, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to George and Grace (Lawless) Roth. George graduated from St. John’s Prep in Brooklyn in 1953, and on Sept. 9, 1961, wed June Carole Tingley (Roth) in Edison, N.J.

In 1973, George and June moved to Rangeley, purchased and operated Doc Grants Restaurant for 23 years. George loved history, music, computers and over the years served on both the Rangeley Sewer and Water commissions. George passed peacefully on Monday evening after a brief battle with cancer.
