TURNER — Dance band T-Acadie, a folk trio of Maine musicians who play Quebecois, Acadian, Cajun and Southern old-time songs, will perform Tuesday, Sept. 4, at the “Music for Mavis” community gazebo.
Pam Weeks, Jim Joseph and Bill Olson have been playing together for more than 20 years. They also perform sea shanteys and original tunes written by Weeks, which range from reels and jigs to aires and waltzes.
T-Acadie is well-known for its close harmony vocals, versatility and variety of instruments — all band mates are multi-instrumentalists. Weeks is recognized as one of the country’s premier mountain dulcimer players and teachers. Olson is known nationally as a contra dance caller and choreographer, with many of his dance compositions called worldwide.
The summer concert series is moving into its final month, with outdoor performances now scheduled a half-hour earlier, at 6 p.m., at the gazebo off Route 117 in Turner Center. Bring a lawn chair. If it rains, the concert will be held at the church across the street. Performances are free, with donations accepted.
