Flag burning ceremony at Legion

DIXFIELD — The Dixfield American Legion will hold an American flag burning ceremony at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, at the American Legion Hall.

Anyone with an American flag that is tattered and worn and needs to be destroyed through proper etiquette is invited to bring it to the ceremony.

For those who cannot attend the ceremony, flags may be dropped off at the Dixfield Town Office.

Quilters to meet Sept. 10

RUMFORD — Rumford Area Quilters will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at the Rumford United Methodist Church, Linnell Street, for the first meeting of the year.

Participants are asked to bring summer show-and-tell projects and a maple leaf 12.5-inch square for the “square bank.” Quilts of all sizes will be accepted for the Native Americans in South Dakota. All area quilters welcome. For more information call 562-7050.
