Coach: Ted Tibbetts (second year)

Last year’s record: 4-4

Returning players: Seniors — Tyler Sturtevant (FB/LB), Tony Whalen (QB/CB), Brandon Drottar (SE/DE), Isaac Stone (T/MLB), Sam Scales (C/DT), Nelson Goyette (G); Juniors — Sam Bridgham (T), Everett Bertrand (slot).

Key losses: Christian Hanscomb (RB/DB), Matt Russell (OL/DE), Pat Summers (SE/CB).

Promising newcomers: Junior —  Jake Simard (G); Sophomore — Adam Mocciala (FS).

Outlook: A .500 mark didn’t translate into a playoff spot for the Knights because of the Crabtree system, but they did take steps forward in their first season under Tibbetts and in Class C. The hope is that with nine of 11 offensive starters returning, that trend will continue. Whalen directs the triple option with toughness, while Sturtevant, Tibbetts says, “is the heart and soul of the team” as 155-pound fullback and outside linebacker. If the Knights can cut down on the self-inflicted wounds such as turnovers, they could surprise.

Coach’s comment: “We don’t need to be grea. We need to establish being consistently good.” — Coach Ted Tibbetts
