PERU — James M. Dragoon, 76, died Thursday, Sept. 6, peacefully with his family by his side at his residence on the Auburn Road, Peru.
He was born in Peru, July 12, 1936, the son of Peter P. Dragoon Sr. and Hilda Vergie Ring, and graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, Class of 1955.
Jim also served in the Maine National Guard and the U.S. Army.
Jim started working at the Oxford Paper Co. and retired from the maintenance department of Mead Paper Co. and then was a self-employed carpenter for more than 10 years until retirement.
He was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius-St. John Church and a member of the Napoleon Ouellette Post 24, American Legion. Jim was most passionate and selfless in sharing his time with family and friends. He enjoyed restoring cars, woodworking, hiking and skiing.
He was married in Rumford, Sept. 5, 1959, to the former June Ann Fournier, who survives of Peru.
Other survivors include daughters, Deborah Prue and husband, Robert, of Wales and Penny Rock and husband, Thomas, of Peru; son, Michael Dragoon and wife, April, of Peru; brother, Peter P. Dragoon Jr. and wife, Aldea, of Livermore and Northport, Fla.; grandchildren, Jennifer Dragoon and fiancé, Alen Saric, of Portland, Travis Dragoon of Mexico, Stephanie Dragoon of Portland, Angela Knox of Westbrook, Jeremy Prue of Bowdoinham, Joshua and Jamie Prue of Wales and Katelyn and Samuel Rock of Peru.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Richard “Dick” Dragoon; and granddaughter, Samantha Rock.
