FARMINGTON — State police are still looking for the owners of a kayak and a canoe that were stolen over the summer and recovered in the Farmington area.

Eight other stolen boats have been returned to their owners, Steve McCausland, spokesman for Maine Department of Public Safety, said in his weekly report Friday.

The two watercraft were stolen from the Sandy River near the Farmington Falls bridge and off the Foundry Road in Livermore Falls, near the Livermore Falls Wastewater Treatment Plant, Trooper Mathew Casavant told McCausland.

Daniel Dustin, 22, of Farmington was charged in July with five thefts in connection to the stolen boats. He is accused of stealing them and attempting to sell them over WKTJ radio station in Farmington during its Phone Mart program for listeners call in and try to sell items.

Anyone with information on the boats may contact Trooper Casavant at the State Police Troop C barracks in Skowhegan at 474-3350.
