JAY/LIVERMORE FALLS — The first combined campus Open House and Community Forum will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the North (Jay) Campus of Spruce Mountain High School.
The purpose of this evening is twofold. From 6 to 6:45 p.m. parents of Spruce Mountain High School students will have the opportunity to meet with members of the combined Spruce Mountain High School faculty. This will be the first time that Spruce Mountain High School holds a unified open house, and during this time teachers from each department/curriculum area will be available to meet parents and share information about their curricula and programs. Refreshments will be served from 6:45 to 7.
At 7 p.m., other members of the greater school community will join in for a conversation about developing an overall vision for Spruce Mountain High School. A fundamental and critical component for the success of any large-scale school change effort is the thoughtful creation and formal acceptance of a shared vision. A shared vision defines desired outcomes, and generates a large amount of buy-in because a cross-section of individuals connected to the school are involved in creating it. In addition to the community forum, an online survey has been created for residents of Livermore, Livermore Falls and Jay who are interested in giving their input at http://bit.ly/smhsvision.
