Republicans plan barbecue

TURNER — The Androscoggin County Republicans and friends will hold a family barbecue from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at The Great Outdoors, 68 Naiad Lane.

There is a beach, volleyball courts and horseshoe pits.

The featured speaker is John A. Ford, Maine humorist and author of “Suddenly, the Cider Didn’t Taste So Good.” Guest speakers will also include candidates from all over Androscoggin County.

The theme for the event is “The Constitution.” The Constitution was signed on Sept. 17, 1787, so 2012 marks the 225th anniversary.

Tickets are $15 per adult, $8 for children 12 and under and $35 for a family of four. Tickets are available at www.androscoggingop.com, by contacting Barbara Schneider at 576-4688 or at the Androscoggin County GOP headquarters, 806 Sabattus St., Lewiston.

Community breakfast Sept. 19

RANGELEY — The next Ladies/Community Breakfast with everyone invited to attend will be on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church on Lake Street, from 7 to 9 a.m.

Retired educators meet

RANGELEY — The Franklin County Retired Educators will hold its first fall meeting at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at the Church of the Good Shepherd. The lunch will be a buffet for $10.

The program will be a discussion by Crystal Ward from MEA-R of possible insurance changes. Attendees are urged to bring questions.

There will be a book swap. The annual membership of $8 will be due at this time.
