LEWISTON — One man suffered a neck injury and another a minor stab wound Thursday night after a pair of scuffles in a College Street driveway.

Police were sent to the area between 94 and 100 College St. at about 6 p.m. after a man was reported injured in a fight. When they arrived, police found that man complaining of neck pain.

A half hour later, police were sent back and this time they found a man suffering what appeared to be a minor knife wound.

Early reports were that the second fight was retaliation for the first, although police were still investigating later Thursday night.

Neither injury was believed to be life-threatening, police said. Both were treated at Central Maine Medical Center. The victims’ identities were not available.

The scene of the brawls is at the end of a driveway next to 94 College St. Police and bystanders said the spot is frequently used as a party area and there have been reports of trouble there in the past.

As police separated the combatants and the injured were taken to hospitals, Detective Derrick St. Laurent began examining the scene and speaking with witnesses as the investigation got under way.
