Buckfield 1, Vinalhaven 0

BUCKFIELD — Garrett Hamann punched in the game-winning goal with 15 minutes left in a boys’ soccer game, allowing Buckfield (3-2) to escape with a 1-0 victory over Vinalhaven (1-2) on Friday.

Hamann used a Brian Kasey pass and knocked in the goal from 25 yards out past Vinalhaven goalie Scott James.

Buckfield goalie Calvin Downey preserved the shutout, making seven saves.

Wiscasset 7, Telstar 2

WISCASSET — Jennings Sousa registered four goals, two in each half, to help propel Wiscasset to a 7-2 victory over Telstar in MVC boys’ soccer.

Sousa’s first goal gave the Wolverines (3-2-1) an early 2-0 lead. Telstar junior Nik Conrad added a goal before Sousa struck again giving Wiscasset a 3-1 lead. Conrad added another goal cutting the deficit to one at the half.

Mason Whitaker and Dale Peaslee each found the back of the net in the second half, sandwiched around Sousa’s two second half scores. Nate Mills stopped 11 shots in net for the victory. Dylan Helms turned away eight shots in the loss for Telstar (1-4-1).
