I recently received a businesslike letter from the Maine Turnpike Authority notifying me that, as of Nov. 1, my commute from Auburn to Portland North will cost me three times what I’m currently paying.
All those people who have been using Route 100 better get ready. As of Nov. 1, a lot more people will be traveling with them.
Turnpike officials have been touting the Turnpike as the safest road in the state. Well, it will continue to be. A lot of the commuters and the problems heavier traffic creates are going to be squeezed onto Route 100.
It will be smooth sailing on the Turnpike for those who can afford it.
I’ll see you on the road. Remember — don’t drive angry.
