LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen voted Monday night to approve a special entertainment permit for the Apple Pumpkin Festival and to waive the $25 permit fee.

The event is “a cultural celebration and harvest festival” and will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Livermore Falls Recreation Field. It is put on by the Jay, Livermore, Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce.

Festival planning committee Vice Chairman Bruce Adams requested that Foundry Road be made one-way for the day as it has in the past. Vehicles will enter Foundry Road from behind the Livermore Falls Town Office and exit onto Park Street, also known as routes 133 and 17, at the Shuy Corner intersection.

Selectmen approved the request.

Set-up for the festival will begin at 6 a.m., Adams said. No heavy equipment will be allowed on the field.

About 50 vendors have signed up. The entire festival will be held on the field. There will be some activities that will coincide with the day such as tours at the Maine Paper and Heritage Museum from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 22 Church St. in Livermore Falls and a harvest supper from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at St. Rose Parish Hall on Church Street in Jay.

Town Manager Kristal Flagg asked selectmen if they planned to waive the permit fee for the festival since it benefits the town.

Flagg said she has heard a lot of good about the festival and no negative comments.

“It does bring a lot of people into the community,” she said.

Selectman Jim Collins agreed.

“It is good for community spirit,” he said.

The board voted to waive the fee.
