DEAR SUN SPOTS: 100 Pine Street Wellness & Recovery Center is seeking donations to assist our ongoing efforts to provide services for our members.

We would appreciate any of the following items: a good usable standard size or slightly smaller pool table, cookie sheets; outdated business magnets; art, craft, scrapbooking and ceramic supplies including unfinished items; and tall shelving to store supplies.

We are often asked to help our homeless members who are moving into their own apartments and would appreciate the following items to assist them: household items, furniture, clothing, especially men’s clothes, clothes racks and any leftover yard sale items. We are more than willing to pick up any donations you may have!

Throughout the year the center hosts various fundraisers to assist in the self support and sustainability of our various activities and services. Our fundraising events help us to provide services such as providing meals, laundry facilities, social activities and networking opportunities. We are currently saving for a security system for the center. Please watch for a future announcement about our holiday bazaar!

100 Pine Street Wellness & Recovery Center provides a safe and supportive place for persons in recovery from persistent mental illness and substance abuse.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Your answers are so very helpful for many people. Can you answer a question for me? I have been having a heated discussion concerning politics. Was former President Bill Clinton ever impeached? My cousin seems to think he was. I say he was never. Who’s right? If he was impeached, why wasn’t he made to leave office? Thank you. — No Name via email

ANSWER: Sun Spots is sorry to inform you that your cousin is right. The problem is your understanding of the process of impeachment. (Your cousin probably doesn’t understand it either, or he would have been able to explain it and end the argument.)

In late 1998, the House of Representatives voted to pass articles of impeachment against Clinton (only the second president to suffer this fate, after Andrew Johnson, who took over the presidency when Abraham Lincoln was assassinated).

Once the articles were passed, the Senate held a trial. Clinton was acquitted by the Senate on Feb. 12, 1999. The vote was 55-45 not guilty. (A two-thirds majority is required to remove a president from office.) So he was impeached, but then never removed from office.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Several of us who attended St. Louis Catholic School on Second Street in Auburn are interested in having a reunion. We would like to hear from folks who would be interested in attending.
