STATEWIDE — Events are planned throughout the state for the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend, to take place Sept. 28-30. This is a series of low cost or free introductory-level outdoor events designed to encourage Mainers to get outside and active and enjoy new places and meet new organizations. A work day will take place on Woodsum Spur trail on Puzzle Mountain, sponsored by Mahoosuc Pathways and Mahoosuc Land Trust, Newry, on Saturday, Sept. 29. Participants should meet at the Grafton Loop Trail parking lot on Route 26 in Newry at 9 a.m. Bring lunch, water and appropriate seasonal gear. There will be a barbecue after the hike at 69 Winslow Road in Bethel. All are welcome; bring a side dish.
