FARMINGTON — A memorial Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church with the Rev. Thomas Lequin, celebrant. The readings were done by Philip’s son-in-law, Doug Gilbert and sister-in-law, Jean Arsenault. Gifts were brought forward by Phil’s grandchildren, Sara, Deidre and Abigail Gilbert and Jordan Cote. His grandson, Alex Gilbert served as the altar attendant. Hymns during Mass offered by Andrea Jane Keirstead were “I Know My Redeemer Lives,” “Eye Has Not Seen,” “The Lord Is My Light” and “Song of Farewell.” Philip’s son, Dana Cote and granddaughter, Sara Gilbert offered a song of tribute on the guitar and violin and his son-in-law, Doug Gilbert read a letter to Philip as the eulogy. Following Mass a reception was hosted by the family and St. Joseph’s Altar Guild in St. Joseph’s Parish Hall. Committal services with military honors was held Tuesday afternoon at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta. Arrangements were in the care of the Wiles Funeral Home, Cremation Service and Remembrance Center, Farmington.
