LEWISTON – The Franco-American Heritage Center will host its second annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 6, in Heritage Hall, which will be set up as a traditional German beer hall.
At 6 p.m., the ceremonial first pouring of beer will officially open Oktoberfest. Black Forest beer will be poured by beermeisters and served to patrons at tables set throughout the hall. In addition, the center’s full bar will be available. Heritage Hall will open its doors at 5:30 p.m.
The Franco Center will serve a buffet-style Bavarian dinner starting with an appetizer of red cabbage seasoned with hardwood smoked bacon and served with bratwurst on sweet and sour sauce. Next will come Bavarian-style leeks with potatoes and pork stew in red wine with carrots and onions. Dessert will be Black Forest Cake.
Before, during and after the meal, people may dance to the lively tunes of the Downeast German Band. DJ Marcel Gagne and Peter Carrier will add their music and humor.
Tickets to this 21+ event are $25 per person in advance. Tickets may be purchased by calling 689-2000, logging on to francocenter.org or visiting the Franco Center box office, 46 Cedar St., between noon and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
