RUMFORD — Visitors were seeing double at Mountain Valley High School on Monday when scores of students dressed as twins.

Pink outfits, black outfits, the same workout T-shirts, and a pair of friends who wore purple plaid shirts, bowties and the same green printed T-shirts all added color to the library, classrooms and halls as students went from one class to another.

Many of the “twins” dressed the same because they were best friends. Senior Alex Witas just wanted to look good with his friend, Ron Russell, a freshman. Both looked snazzy in their purple plaid shirts and bowties.

The cool guys with the bowties joined another set of “twins,”  sophomore Brandon Daigle and Amanda Thurston, a senior, dressed in traditional red plaid flannel shirts.

Some were dressed all in pink, purple or black.

This week is filled with activities, leading up to a night football game between the Mountain Valley Falcons and Wells at 7 p.m. Friday at Hosmer Field.

The more students who participate from a class, the more points that class earns toward becoming the winner of Spirit Week.

Tuesday’s special dress-up day will reflect the garb of the 1980s, followed on Wednesday by sports jersey day, then spirit day on Thursday when students will wear the school colors of silver and blue.

A rally is also planned for Thursday afternoon.

The annual homecoming parade kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday from the the high school, then proceeds down Hancock Street to Waldo Street, then ends at Hosmer Field.
