Phil Poirier will perform original compositions at a concert on Friday, Oct. 19, in Jay to help raise funds to rebuild the barn at the Washburn-Norlands Living History Center in Livermore.

JAY — Local musician Phil Poirier will give a concert of original compositions on Friday, Oct. 19, to help raise funds to rebuild the barn at the Washburn-Norlands Living History Center in Livermore.

Poirier’s music, which features  strong, thoughtful lyrics, has been described as “contemporary folk, with a touch of the blues.” He is a former Norlands board member.

There will be coffee and dessert and other refreshments along with raffles for a cord of firewood and a handmade quilt donated by the Livermore Village Scrappers. Norlands is raising funds to rebuild the barn lost to a fire in 2008.

The barn will house oxen, cows, sheep and pigs. Plans include an ice house and hayloft. Most importantly, the new barn will enable Norlands to continue its living-history programs that teach visitors about farm life during the 19th century.
