PORTLAND — George Thorogood & The Destroyers will bring their fusion of roots rock, roots blues and boogie to the State Theatre on Friday, March 8.

For more than 35 years, the band has brought audiences to their feet at concerts worldwide.

The group released 16 studio albums, including five that were certified gold, with hits including “Bad to the Bone” as well as covers of blues standards such as Hank Williams’ “Move It On Over” and John Lee Hooker’s “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer.”  Another favorite, in which Thorogood displays his impressive guitar skills, is a cover of Bo Diddley’s “Who Do You Love?”

The band’s early success contributed to the rise of folk label Rounder Records.

General admission tickets, $35 advance/$40 day of show, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5. Call 800-745-3000, visit the Cumberland County Civic Center box office or log on to www.statetheatreportland.com. The State Theatre is at 609 Congress St.
