LEWISTON — Keith Carson, meteorologist at WCSH Channel 6, will be the presenter at the USM Lewiston-Auburn Senior College “Food for Thought” luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12. He will give a PowerPoint presentation on the weather forecast, with emphasis on Alberta clippers, mountain snow squalls and nor’easters and other ways Maine can get buried in snow. He will also give a special aside into why weather forecasting is an imperfect science.

Carson does have a sense of humor and will take questions from the audience. He notes people always have lots of questions about the weather. He plans to address some of the “issues” and is willing to suffer the barbs and slings about weather forecasting.

A native of Massachusetts, Carson graduated from Lyndon State College in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in meteorology and an Associate of Science in television studies. Following graduation, he worked at Weather Services International in Andover, Mass., as a forecaster and on-air talent (recording weather segments for places around the world). Later, he worked for WPTZ-TV in Burlington, Vt., as their weekend morning and evening meteorologist. He has been with WCSH for 2 1/2 years.

Senior College, now in its 14th year, presents the monthly 11:30 luncheon program in the Function Room 170 at USM LAC. The cost, which includes lunch, is $7 with advance reservation or $8 at the door. Reservations must be made by noon on Oct. 11 by calling 753-6510.
