Leavitt 2, Gardiner 1
TURNER — Cheryl Fichter converted a relay from Bri DeGone for the game-winner as Leavitt closed a 2-1 victory over Gardiner in field hockey action Friday.
All the goals were scored in the second half as the Hornets (10-2) and Tigers (11-2) battled ferociously down to the final seconds.
Sadie Royer scored the first goal at the 23:03 mark on a penalty corner for Leavitt. Gardiner kept pressure on Leavitt’s defense, and on a penalty stroke call, Abby Dyer scored a hard low shot to the right side of the goalie.
Goalie Olivia Philbrook made 14 saves for the Tigers, while Sierra Santamango prevented four to earn the win in net for Leavitt.
Oak Hill 2, St. Dom’s 0
AUBURN — Oak Hill got a goal in each half to down St. Dom’s 2-0 in field hockey action.
Freshman Kylee Veilleux scored with just under five minutes remaining in the first half an assist from Heather Hannigan. Sophomore Danielle Samson tallied an unassisted score in the second half to seal the victory.
Abby Fuller turned away both shots she faced for the Raiders (6-7). Amanda Cortellino had three saves on six shots for St. Dom’s (3-9-1).
Mt. Blue 2, Maranacook 1
FARMINGTON — Junior Sarita Crandall scored a pair of goals to lead Mt. Blue to a 2-1 victory in field hockey action on Friday afternoon.
Rileigh Blanchet made seven saves for the Cougars (7-5). Amber Bree stopped 14 shots for Maranacook (2-10-1).
Lisbon 4, Telstar 0
BETHEL — Hanna Jordan scored the second and third goals as Lisbon registered a 4-0 victory over Telstar in MVC field hockey action Friday.
The Greyhounds (12-0-1) executed great speed and tallied all four goals in the first half.
Goalie Hali Barter made 19 saves, including 17 in an intense second half for the Rebels (3-10). Goalie Stevie Charest stopped four shots to earn the win in net for Lisbon.
Leavitt 3, Mt. View 0
TURNER — Three different players scored as Leavitt swarmed to a 3-0 win over Mt. View in girls’ soccer action Friday.
Kelsea Marschall scopped up a short goal kick and smacked a nifty shot off the post and past the keeper for the Hornet’s first goal midway through the first half.
Nine minutes into the second half, Mariah Treadwell blasted a shot from 40 yards out for Leavitt . And with 6:57 remaining in regulation, Sydney Nadeau took a ball in front of the net and hit a low drive into the right corner to finish the scoring.
Goalie Logan Basford made 11 saves for Mt. View, while goalie Angela Dagle brushed off a single shot to earn the win in net for Leavitt.
Girls’ soccer
Mt. Blue 5, Messalonskee 0
FARMINGTON — Senior forward Mackenzie Conlogue scored a pair of goals to lead Mt. Blue to a 5-0 triumph over Messalonskee in KVAC girls’ soccer action Friday.
The Cougars (5-4-1) took a 2-0 halftime lead in a relatively tight game in the first frame. Chelsea Newhall scored the second goal and pitched in with an assist.
Goalie Shawna Oliver made 22 saves for the beleaguered Eagles (0-11), while Gabby Foye and Thia Bridges combined for 13 saves for Mt. Blue in the winning effort.
Oak Hill 1, Dirigo 1, 2 OT
WALES — Oak Hill’s Alyssa Rouleau scored in the second half to tie the score and neither team was able to get another as the Raiders tied Dirigo 1-1 in girls’ soccer.
Megan Bradbury put the Cougars (7-3-2) on the board first with an unassisted goal with 14:43 left in the first half. Roleau’s equalizer came on an assist from Sarah Carpenter with 9:10 remaining.
Dirigo’s Natasha Deroche and Oak Hill’s Kelsey Collins kept both teams off the board in both overtimes for the tie. Deroche made five saves, while Collins stopped eight shots for the Raiders (6-5-1).
