FARMINGTON — RSU 9 directors voted Tuesday to approve a trip for seven students to attend a leadership education conference on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 11-12, in Winthrop.

About 250 students from Jobs for Maine Graduates programs around the state will attend the annual conference, JMG specialist Cal Dorman said in information he provided to the board for the trip. The conference will be held at Camp Mechuwana in Winthrop.

Dorman will provide the transportation.

Seven students were selected by their peers to represent the Mt. Blue High School JMG Career Association.

“These seven students will develop leadership and team-building skills throughout their stay,” Dorman wrote in his field trip description. “This event will also familiarize these officers with their responsibilities within the class and at student led career association meetings.”

JMG students will expect these officers to apply their newly acquired skills upon their return. The officers will provide guidance, direction and focus for other students, he wrote.

Students will return to Mt. Blue Friday afternoon.

The school district is not paying for the trip. All food and lodging will be provided by JMG.
