RUMFORD — Kallie Hutchinson knocked in the game-winning goal on a corner in overtime, allowing No. 9 Yarmouth to escape with a 3-2 victory over No. 8 Mountain Valley in a Western Maine Class B preliminary field hockey game Saturday.
The Falcons (9-4-1) got on the board first when Peyton Provencher scored on a Nicole Burgess feed. Yarmouth responded when Emma Peterson scored on a Carlene Shaw pass to tie the game.
In the second half, Peterson scored her second goal on Hutchinson feed to give the Clippers a 2-1 lead. But the Falcons rebounded when Alexys Duguay scored another Burgess assist.
Mountain Valley goalie Vanessa Swett made eight saves.

Oak Hill 2
CAPE ELIZABETH — Lauren Steidel scored a hat trick as Cape Elizabeth notched a 3-2 victory over Oak Hill in preliminary round playoff field hockey action Saturday.
The Raiders (7-8-0) and Capers were deadlocked at 2-2 at the midpoint.
Oak Hill goalie Abby Fuller made 16 saves in a barrage of activity at her end of the field, while goalie Juli-Anne Ayers prevented a pair for Cape Elizabeth in the winning effort.
Girls’ soccer
Buckfield 3, GPC 0
PORTLAND — The Buckfield Bucks know they were having a good day when they discovered that their goalie Arrabine Dunn didn’t have to make a save in a girls’ soccer game.
Ashley Campbell, Dakota Warren and McKayla Darling each scored as the Bucks overpowered Greater Portland Christian with a 3-0 victory Saturday. Alexis Bennett picked up an assist on Campbell’s first-half goal.
The Bucks took only four shots on net, but made three count. GPC never got a shot off on Dunn.

Mountain Valley 0
RUMFORD — Kelley McLellan broke the ice with a goal early in the second half and St. Dom’s played fine defense to shut out Mountain Valley, 2-0, in MVC girls’ soccer Saturday.
McLellan punched home a shot off the post at 5:24 of the second half to break a scoreless tie. Marley Byrne added the insurance goal on a penalty kick.
Kelly Pomerleau made 11 saves in net to secure the shutout for the Saints (12-1-1), who clinched a spot in the MVC championship game against Lisbon next Wednesday. Jena Plourde made 14 saves for the Falcons (3-11).
Cape Elizabeth 1, Gray-NG 0
CAPE ELIZABETH — Katherine Clark recovered a free kick and dribbled the ball down field before zipping it past the goalkeeper to lift Cape Elizabeth to a 1-0 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in girls’ soccer action Saturday.
Sam Williams made 13 saves for the Patriots (4-6-4), while Mary Perkins earned the shutout in net for Cape Elizabeth.
Hebron 1, Gould 0
BETHEL — McCaela Prentice scored the game’s only goal as Hebron blanked Gould, 1-0, in MAISAD girls’ soccer action Saturday.
Emily Wyman picked up the assist on Prentice’s goal. Molly Bloomingdale pitched the shutout in goal with five saves.
Julia Getman stopped six shots between the posts for Gould.
Boys’ soccer
Buckfield 4, GPC 0
PORTLAND — Jon Randolph scored a pair of goals as Buckfield sidestepped Greater Portland Christian with a 4-1 victory in a boys’ game Saturday.
The Bucks jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first half. Garrett Hamann and Kyle Chabe also scored for the Bucks (6-7-1).
