JAY — The Daughters of Isabella Circle 677 from St. Rose of Lima Church held the monthly business meeting on Oct. 10, followed by Chancellor Laurieann Castonguay leading the group in the recitation of the rosary. Regent Denise Rodzen called the meeting to order at 6:30. The opening prayer was read by Castonguay, followed by the pledge to the flag and the recitation of the opening ode.

The white candle was lit in memory of all the deceased sisters of the Daughters. Rita Crowley, sitting in for recording secretary Jackie Castonguay, read the roll call. Helen Hobbs sat in for banner bearer Dora Nickless, Gina Labbe sat in for Karen Daniels, inner guard.

Crowley then read the minutes from the September business meeting. There were no new members, Rita read a thank-you card that the circle received from Fern Doiron. She then read a letter the circle received about the Catholic Women’s Conference that will take place on Dec. 1.

Scribe Kim Couture reported that she placed articles in the local newspapers about the September business meeting and also the September social. She did not check anymore on the tables. Sister Vice Regent Dorothy Morgan sent get well cards to Fern Doiron, Gail Cormier, Frances Moreau and Denise Soucy.

Amy Ouellettee Newman asked if she could do the cards again; it was voted to let her take over the cards. Vice Regent Dorothy Morgan thanked Amy for handling that while she was taking a break.

Fern Doiron reported on the tables. She stated that for six tables it would be $280 per table. Regent Rodzen said that the tables are still not being bought. Doiron said that they are guaranteed for 15 years. Six tables need to replaced; the matter will remain on the table to find cheaper ones.

Wednesday, Nov. 7, will be the audit in the parish hall. Restaurants for the Christmas outing was next on the agenda. This will be brought up at the October social.
