SCARBOROUGH — Richard H. Hall, 78, of Acton, died Oct. 16, at the Gosnel Memorial Hospice, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in East Andover, July 1, 1934, the son of Richard N. Hall and Katherine (Sennett) Hall.

He was a member of Tewksbury-Wilmington Lodge of Elks 2070 and a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and his home on the lake. He was employed at Sanborn’s Express, Montvale Avenue, Stoneham, Mass., prior to retirement. He served two years in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by daughter, Susan Jones and husband, Tony, of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; sons, Randy Gilbert and wife, Donna, of Pensacola, Fla., and Ricky Gilbert and wife, Lynn, of Carson City, Nev.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and his beloved companion, Barbara Hayden of East Andover.

He was predeceased by his wife, Constance A. Hall in 2000; son, David A. Hall in 1993; brother, Morris Hall; and sister, Mary Serafin.
